View larger. | The Story In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince the Video Game, Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different, but equally unavoidable adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates. And then there’s Hermione, simmering with jealously, but determined not to show her feelings. Yet as romance blossoms throughout Hogwarts, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again. Gameplay Like earlier video game releases in the Harry Potter franchise, the action in Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince the Video Game revolves around the exploration of Hogwarts and the action that results from what you uncover. The game features both an engrossing single player mode as well as local multiplayer modes for up to two players. During their adventures, players will have a chance to engage in exciting wizard duels, mix and brew magical ingredients in potions class and take to the air to lead the Gryffindor Quidditch team to victory. Players may even get sidetracked by Ron’s romantic entanglements as they journey towards a dramatic climax and discover the identity of the Half-Blood Prince. Fun but short September 6, 2010 mindy l Fun game. I love the castle, they recreate it well. But it's short. Took me about 3 1/2 hours to finish. I recomend the 5th (Order of Phoenix), or wait a while and try Deathly Hallows. Game shiped really fast! Great seller.
Ok, not as good as the others July 22, 2010 Anola I bought this game to kill time this summer because I had nothing to do and it was ok compared to all the other HP games. I've played them all on PC and it seems to me that EA ran out of ideas to make the HP games fun. The side activities are all the same and boring and easy as possible. Yeah the graphics are amazing and get better with each game but honesty you could just replay Order of the Phoenix or Goblet of Fire if you want to look at pretty Hogwarts.
Also you don't see the main characters as often as you did in the last games which is something I enjoyed. Quidditch is also sooo easy and simple I could play it asleep and still win. Potions is fun at first because this is the first time you get to do potions in the HP games but gets boring real fast.
If you want to kill some time and waste some money, sure buy this game, otherwise just stick in one of the other HP games and play that instead because its the same...just less enjoyable.
Potter June 20, 2010 Michelle Pattee (California) I bought this for my 10 yr old son.The coolest thing was i had to play it also. we had fun. Our fav part was the games.
kal June 15, 2010 K. Lord This game is cool. I bought it for my nephew so he would have a different game to play on my PS3 when he comes over, but I really enjoy it too! I just think it is amazing that the game incorporates the World of Harry Potter so completely. The only thing is some of the characters' eyes are creepy!
Fine for what I paid. June 10, 2010 N. Buchen (Sac, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this new on Amazon for $[...]. While it's certainly not the most fun or enthralling game I've played, it's entertaining. The plot loosely follows the movie, but the main story is fairly short. The graphics are below average by PS3 standards, although the sound is decent. The mini-quests (gathering crests, potions club, dueling club, and quiditch club) add replay value. The in-game duels are fun, but the multi-player duels are awkward. If you're a Harry Potter fan and for the price I paid, I recommend it.
